The Surfer's Mistress Italian Restaurant

What an exciting time it's been! The Surfer's Mistress has added a new Italian flair to the restaurants on offer in Paraparaumu Beach on the stunning Kapiti Coast. For those looking for a different kind of dining experience, the restaurant offers a wide range of italian delights. It's the newest restaurant in Paraparaumu, but definitely one to watch; the striking decor has a modern style that mixes the old and new, and provides the perfect setting for either casual dining or a get-together such as a family dinner.

The modern decor is perfect for casual dining or a more romantic dinner.

All the pasta (aside from gluten free) is made fresh on-site by our chef, and is lovingly served with a variety of delicious, tasty meals. These vary from the deceptively simple yet complex flavours of the pesto linguine to traditional Ragu Alla Bolognese. And yes, it's traditional. This restaurant is run by a genuine Italian with a deep love for the food of his home country. These are not your usual run-of-the mill dinners with a kiwi twist, these are the real deal. With a recipe straight out of Bologna, Italy, it's not one to be missed. When you couple this amazing fresh pasta with an easy to understand pricing policy, it's a steal at only $22.00.

What Italian restaurant would be complete without pizza? All pizza is priced at $22.00, and a great selection is on offer. From Regina Margherita (tomato, mozzarella, basil and fresh buffalo mozzarella) to Salsiccia (italian sausage, mozzarella and extra virgin olive oil) there is something for everyone. Pizza bases are all made fresh each day, so you know you're getting a quality experience.

Different Dessert

This restaurant is certainly different. Right down to the delightfully delicious desserts. Other restaurants are fixated on heavy, chocolate and really rich puddings, with no alternatives for those that prefer something a little lighter. Clearly you can't have an Italian restaurant without offering Tiramisu, and this one, containing a healthy shot of Amaretto, must be eaten! Mixing things up there is the changeable cake of the day, my own favourite, Affogato, that bows to the superior Kāpiti Ice Cream available up on the coast, and for those fruit fiends out there (we're looking at you, #teampineapple) there's an offering of freshly cut pineapple with a shot of Maraschino liqueur that cannot be missed.

Perfect Paraparaumu Beach

Paraparaumu is a fantastic place to be. Nestled between Raumati to the South and Waikanae in the North it holds a special place in the hearts of those that visit and live there. The beach area in particular has it's own eclectic vibe, with a wide selection of accommodation for those on holiday or vacation. It's great for holidaymakers and locals, with boutique shops and takeaways. And don't miss the Saturday market, held in the car park directly behind The Surfer's Mistress Italian restaurant! Many a bargain has been picked up whilst roaming the food stalls and interesting crafts on display.

Proud to be Local

And while we're talking about the perfect spot, the owner / operators of The Surfer's Mistress are perfectly suited for this too. Whilst Stefano is certainly 100% the real deal Italian, we're keen to point out that Jason is himself a local. After 20 years of travelling and experiencing the world, they have returned to Jason's home (a local that attended Kāpiti College no less) to settle and run the perfect Kiwi / Italian dream. Italian food with a little Kiwi ingenuity thrown in. What could be better?

So what are you waiting for? Give them a call on 04 298 7873 and get on down to 10 Seaview Road. You won't regret it!
